Our first mini-chapbook of 2021 is a work of surreal horror fiction. Helek, a disciple of the machine god, lives in fear of being chosen for “renewal,” a grisly ritual that involves cutting off its subject’s head and replacing it with a new, synthetic one. Finding a head in the forest that looks and sounds exactly like him only complicates matters, leaving him desperate to avoid its discovery by his mentors.
